Ans.The grand father / Abel Merryweather, who is titled to be dear is not dear to anyone. All the members of the family wanted only his property. Money is the dear to both the sisters but it departed from them.

Ans.His education had made him shun physical labour.Being a government officer if he carries the luggage all the people may laugh at him.
