Rhodes Scholarship Eligibility India

In order to become a Rhodes scholar, an applicant should possess qualities like outstanding intellect, leadership, commitment to service and character. Besides these qualities, the key eligibility criterion for the scholarship include:

  • Nationality/citizenship: candidate should be a citizen of India, holding an Indian passport, or equivalent proof of citizenship; PIO or OCI cardholders do not satisfy the Indian citizenship criteria for this purpose.
  • Education/residency: candidate should have undertaken formal study at an educational institution in India for a minimum of 4 of the last 10 years, and have either
    • completed a school-leaving exam (10th or 12th standard or equivalent) at a school in India, or
    • have received, or be in the final year of, an undergraduate degree at a university in India.
  • Rhodes Scholarship Age Limit: candidate should have reached candidate’s 19th and not have passed the candidate’s 25th birthday on 1 October 2020, which means the candidate should have been born after 30 September 1995 and on or before 1 October 2001. Note: For medical students and medical doctors who are pursuing, or who have completed, their one-year internship (CRRI), the age limit is extended by one year; in these cases, the candidate should have been born after 30 September 1994 and on or before 1 October 2001.
  • Academic achievement: candidate should have completed (or shall have completed by June / July 2022) candidate’s undergraduate degree with First Class, or equivalent. Successful candidates typically feature within the top few ranks of their graduating classes.
    Note: only one of the five available Scholarships (and, in exceptional cases, two) may be awarded in the aggregate to

    • candidates who are pursuing, or have pursued, their undergraduate studies outside India and
    • inter-jurisdictional Candidates.

Rhodes Scholarship Applicable Courses

  • A BA program with senior status, i.e., done over two years
  • A one-year taught Master’s course like BCL, MSt or MSc which is followed by another one-year taught Master’s course in the second year
  • A one-year taught Master’s course like BCL, MSt or MSc which may progress to D.Phil. In this combination, the students can apply for the scholarship for the third year. (Note: This movement is not applicable for students in Physical & Life Sciences and Maths division).
  • A two-year BPhil or MPhil or BCL program that progresses to DPhil. In this scenario too, the students can apply for the third year of the scholarship.
  • A two-year MLitt or MSc by research. (Note: No scholarship shall be given for the third year in this scenario).
  • A three-year DPhil program.

Rhodes Scholarship Application Procedure

  • Candidate can apply online from June 2022 at http://www.rhodeshouse.ox.ac.uk/scholarships/apply via the scholarships tab.
  • candidate should submit a candidate’s application online, with all supporting documents, by 23:59 India Standard Time, 31 July 2019.
  • In preparation for making candidate’s application, the candidate should read carefully the general information, particularly that held on the Scholarships tab, on the Rhodes website, the Conditions of Tenure for the Rhodes Scholarship, the information in this document and the graduate admissions pages of the University of Oxford: www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/graduate.
  • If a candidate is a longlisted candidate shall be invited to attend a preliminary, personal interview in New Delhi. If the candidate is not ordinarily residents in India candidates may be interviewed preliminarily by video conference or telephone.
  • Shortlisted candidates shall be invited to social engagement (a dinner with the selection committee hosted by the Chairman) and a final interview. candidate should be available to attend both, in person, as no accommodations can be made on date and time, or mode, of these events. Interviews shall be held in New Delhi in October or November 2022. No candidate shall be selected without an interview. The granting of an interview is entirely within the discretion of the Selection Committee. A domestic travel allowance for candidates invited for the final interview shall be paid by the Rhodes Trust. International travel shall not be reimbursed.
  • All applicants shall be emailed with the outcome of their application.

  • Candidate’s birth certificate or valid passport confirming that the candidate meets the age criterion.

  • If a candidate is neither a graduate of a university in India nor in the final year of undergraduate study at a university in India, the candidate should provide evidence of formal study at an educational institution in India for at least 4 of the last 10 years as of the date of application and completion of a school-leaving exam at a school in India (either 10th or 12th standard or equivalent).

  • A full curriculum vitae which should comprise information about academic qualifications, prizes, scholarships, positions of leadership, employment positions, involvement in student, voluntary, community or political activities and any cultural, musical or sporting accomplishments. This should not exceed two A4 pages in length. Please do not comprise a photograph in a candidate’s CV.
  • A head-and-shoulders color photograph (jpg format).
  • A personal statement of no more than 1,000 words. The personal statement is the candidate’s chance to tell the candidate’s story in the candidate’s own voice: Who are you? What matters to you?   • Selection for the Rhodes Scholarship is made without regard to marital status, race, ethnic origin, color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, social background, disability, caste or other irrelevant distinction. The provision of such information in the ‘Outreach’ section of the application form is optional, but helps us to ensure that our selection processes are fair and that our outreach efforts are effective; those involved in selection shall only see summary statistics of these responses in an anonymized format that cannot be tracked back to the individual.

WB Scholarship Eligibility

Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship for Minorities: This West Bengal merit cum means scholarship is for students studying from Class 11th onwards. The students are selected on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Candidates must have scored at least 75% marks in case studying in Diploma, Higher Secondary or graduation level. In the case of Post-graduation, a candidate must have scored at least 53% (general) or 55% (engineering) marks. The annual family income must not exceed INR 2.5 lakhs per annum.

West Bengal Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC: Students studying in the post – matriculation or post-secondary level can apply to this scholarship. Students who are studying in class 11th, 12th, or graduation/ post-graduation are eligible to get financial assistance. NTSE Haryana Result 2020 (Declared) | Exam Dates, Check Application, Eligibility

NTSE Haryana 2019-20: SCERT Haryana has released the notification for the NTSE Haryana exam 2020. The process for application will begin from August 14 this year. Candidates applying need to have a minimum of 55% marks to be eligible for this exam. The candidates that are eligible can fill the application form of the NTSE Haryana exam till September 25, 2019. The application form should be filled by the candidates in online mode only. NTSE Haryana Stage 1 exam is to be conducted in November 1st week. The conducting body will release the admit card for NTSE Haryana 2020 exam online through the official website.

NTSE Exam Stage 1 is for shortlisting the candidates and deserving candidates for the NTSE stage 2 exam. Eligibility Criteria for NTSE Haryana Exam

SCERT Haryana has out forward some eligibility criteria for the candidates that are appearing in the exam. Below are the eligibility criteria for the same:

  • The candidate that is appearing for NTSE Haryana 2020 exam should have cleared class 9 exams with a minimum of 55% marks. For candidates belonging to the reserved category, the criteria are different.
  • The candidate will be given the scholarship if he or she takes up studies only on a whole-time basis.
  • If the candidate gets the scholarship from other sources that this will lead to cancellation of the NTSE scholarship for that particular year.
  • Candidates that have undertaken any job with stipend, remuneration, or salary is not eligible for this scholarship.
  • The Indian candidates that are studying outside India in class 10 should be permitted to appear directly for the stage 2 exam based on norms and conditions by NCERT.

NTSE Haryana 2020 Exam Application Form

NTSE Haryana stage 1 application form is due to release on 14th August 2019. Candidates can fill the application form till September 25. The form will be available for everyone to download online on the SCERT official website. Also, the form will be available at respective schools of the candidates offline. Ishan Uday Scholarship 2022 | Special Scholarship Scheme Ishan Uday for NER, Details and Rewards

Ishan Uday Scholarship 2022-23: Ishan Uday Scholarship is offered by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) is offering for NER 2022-23. This is a special scheme available for the North Eastern domiciled students who have passed the Class12th examination. The objective of this scheme is: to provide equal opportunity for the NE region students to pursue higher education, to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in NE Region, to focus more on professional education in NE Region, Optimum utilization of NER Budgetary Allocation.

It is envisioned to provide ten thousand (10,000) fresh scholarships every year starting from the academic year 2014-15 for general degree courses, technical and professional courses, including medical and para-medical courses.

Ishan Uday Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  • Students with the domicile of NER who have passed Class 12th or equivalent exam from a school located within NER through any recognized Board of Education, including Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) within NER only.
  • Students who have secured admission in a general degree courses, technical and professional courses including medical and paramedical courses (Integrated courses included) in Universities/Colleges/Institutions recognized as under Universities/Institutions/Colleges included under Section 2(f) and 12 (B) of UGC Act, Deemed to be Universities included under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 and eligible to receive grants-in-aid from UGC, Universities/Institutions/Colleges funded by Central / State Government, Institutes of National Importance,  Institutions recognized by other Statutory councils within as well as outside
  • Only first-year Undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • For integrated degree courses the scholarship will be tenable for the complete duration of the course. For dual degree courses, the scholarship shall be tenable for the first degree only. The university shall clarify it while recommending a candidate for the scholarship.
  • The income of the parents of the student should not exceed Rs.4.5 lakh per annum.
  • Transgender candidates are eligible to apply under the scheme. The reservation shall be followed as per Government of India norms.

Who are not Eligible for Ishan Uday?

  • Students pursuing courses/programs through Open Universities.
  • Students already availing scholarship for pursuing the Undergraduate program under any other scheme(s).
  • Students gaining admission through ‘management quota’.
  • Students pursuing courses, such as Diploma Courses, not leading to the award of a Degree.
  • Students whose parents’ income exceeds Rs.4.5 lakh per annum.

Slots of Ishan Uday Scholarship

  • UGC will award 10,000 (ten thousand) fresh scholarships per year.
  • Allocation of slots for each State shall be done based upon the population (latest census report) of the respective State. If the slots remain vacant in any particular State, the unfilled slots shall be distributed equitably among other States.
  • There shall be three Percent horizontal reservation for differently-abled persons.

Ishan Uday Scholarship Rewards

Ishan Uday scholarship for NER expends a total of 10,000 scholarships at the flow of up to INR 7800 per month every year to the chosen students.   • The candidates’ application ID will be generated based on their residence state. This application ID will be further used as ‘Login ID’ on NSP Portal and future references.

  • After completing the registration form, an OTP will be generated with which the candidate has to log in and fill the scholarship application form.

Ishan Uday Scholarship Selection Procedure

The awardees will be selected on the basis of marks scored by them in the Class XII or equivalent exam. The Commission reserves the right to withdraw/cancel the award without assigning any reason. The result shall be published on the UGC website. Award letters can be downloaded from the UGC online application portal. The effective date of release of fellowship shall be 1st April of the election year or the actual date of joining the first year of the undergraduate degree course whichever is later.

Ishan Uday Scholarship – Scholarship Duration and Renewal

  • The scholarship awarded under the scheme will be renewed during the term of the first-degree course, subject to good conduct and maintenance of designated attendance.
  • Scholars who fail to get promoted to the subsequent class/level would get the scholarship in the coming year, subject to the situation that if the student fails again for the second time, he/she would abandon the scholarship and it would not be recommenced for the remaining period of the course.
  • If an awardee is incapable to appear in the annual exam because of illness or on account of any unforeseen incident, the scholarship may be resumed for the next academic year on submission of a medical certificate and other proof to satisfy the Head of the Institution.
  • The growth of the scholar is to be observed by the head of the department of the Universities/Colleges/Institutions. The scholar is expected to submit quarterly continuation document duly signed by the head of the Institution of the Universities/Colleges/Institutions to the designated branch of a named bank.
  • Any scholar who stops the studies without the prior consent of the UGC will have to repay the whole amount through e-mode (RTGS/NEFT) directly to UGC account.
  • An awardee would be allowed to continue/renew his/her scholarship if he/she changes the course of study to another stream (e.g. Law, Fashion Technology, etc.). Scholars pursuing 5 years of courses, would get a scholarship at the designated rates for the duration of the course.
  • Scholars changing their college/institute of education would be permitted to continue/renew the scholarship provided the course of study and the institution is recognized, subject to the condition that the scholarship will not be paid twice for the same year of study.
  • In case the scholarship is eliminated for any reason, the decision of the UGC will be final. In the event of de-notification/deletion of any institution, the scholarship will remain to be available to the learners already admitted under the scheme, if otherwise eligible, till completion of the course.
  • The scholar will be allowed to transfer his/her place of study as well as the course only once in the entire tenure of the scholarship. If the scholar switches from a general degree course to the technical or professional course he will be entitled to the amount of general degree course only, as initially sanctioned. If he/she switches from a technical or professional course to a general degree course he would be entitled to the amount of general degree course only.

STS Scholarship 2022 | Application (Closes Soon), Eligibility, Selection, Rewards

STS Scholarship 2022: The applications for STS Scholarship are invited from interested MBBS/BDS students, On behalf of Prof. Balram Bhargava, Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research and Secretary, Department of Health Research. STS stands here for Short Term Studentship.

The ICMR launched the Short Term Studentship Program in 1979 to encourage interest and aptitude for analysis among medical undergraduates. The principal aim of this plan is to provide a chance for undergraduate medical trainees to get familiar with research methodology and procedures by being linked within a short span with their superiors on ongoing research programs or by undertaking independent projects. It was supposed that this may assist as an inspiration for them to take up research as a profession in the future.

For the last 37 years, medical UG students of various medical institutes in the nation have shown extreme interest in ICMR Short Term Studentship (STS) program. The ICMR has decided to extend this program by awarding the limited number of studentships to exemplary MBBS/BDS students for the year 2020 from MCI/DCI recognized Medical/Dental Colleges.

About 1500 students (1200 seats- MBBS and 300 seats- BDS) will be granted STS in Jan 2021 after the Report submission and review for the year 2020.

STS Scholarship Karnataka Dates

The student is obliged to register on the ICMR website ONLINE commencing from 10th December 2022 till 9th January 2023 (by 3:00 pm), the application form and STS research proposal are to be submitted online from 10th January 2022 to 27th January 2022 (by 3:00 pm) which will be then examined by the ICMR.

The results will be published in April 2022 and the list of selected students to undertake STS research work will be presented on the STS website. The chosen students are required to build the project in any two given months between April to September 2022 and submit the report before the last date of submission i.e. 16th October 2022 (Wednesday by 3:00 pm).

STS Karnataka Scholarship Rewards

The amount of the studentship is Rs. 10,000/- per month for two months’ duration (Rs. 20,000/- only) and is intended to be a pay for the student. This is given only after the achievement of the research and the permission of the final report. Expenses of research must be supported by Institution/ Medical/Dental College where the research is carried.

A certificate will be dispensed and posted to the Principal’s/College office after 6-8 months of Report results are published in Jan 2021. The Certificate will be dispensed only to the Student whose report will get chosen. However, the Guide can keep a xerox/scan copy of the same.

The student will be awarded a stipend and certificate only if his/her STS report is approved by ICMR. The Institution must provide the student with all the facilities for carrying out research. The value of the studentship from 2020 is Rs. 10,000/- per month for two month’s duration (Total Rs. 20,000/- only) and is meant to be a stipend for the student.

STS Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  • Only for MBBS/BDS students of Medical/Dental colleges recognized by MCI/DCI are eligible before they arrive for their final exams.
  • Interns or PG students are not eligible to apply.
  • Students of paramedical/non-medical courses may not apply.
  • Indian National students who are studying in approved medical/dental colleges of India can apply.
  • Students who are carrying OCI cards/PIO cards/NRI’s studying in Indian medical/dental college can also apply and a copy of the OCI/PIO/NRI card must be submitted.
  • Students from foreign medical/dental colleges are not qualified for this program.

The students must bring out the research in their own medical/dental college under the guide who is employed in the medical college as a faculty. Only permanent full-time faculty members working in any of the Department of the Medical/Dental College where the student is enrolled can act as the guide. Part-time consultants/visiting faculty/ residents/ Tutors/ Pool officers/ PG students cannot be the guide.

Only one student will be allowed to work under one guide. Two or more students are not permitted to work on the same topic together. Proposals submitted on the same topic by different students are liable to be rejected outright. The student may have one Guide and other Co-Guides. However, ICMR will recognize only ONE main Guide for all purposes.

STS Scholarship Application Procedure

STS Scholarship Apply online:

  • STS is a fully online program. No hard copies have to be submitted.
  • The student is required to register on the ICMR website in the month of mid-December and then submit the application form and proposal online by January every year which will be evaluated by ICMR.

Note: 

  • Students are requested to visit the ICMR website (www.icmr.nic.in) and comply with instructions updated from time to time about the STS program.
  • Students who were unable to complete their STS project can re-apply for the next STS program with the same project. However, it will not be given any special preference and will be treated as a fresh/ new application.

STS Scholarship Selection Process

  • Results will be declared in April and the list of elected student’s names presented on the website.
  • If chosen, the student is demanded to accomplish the project in any two given months between April and September each year and present the report before the last date of submission.
  • The students will be granted a stipend and certificate only if their report is approved.
  • The last date of registration and submission of the proposal each year is during the second half of January.
  • The choice of the applicants for the award of research studentship will be done after the technical evaluation of the research plan by a committee of experts.
  • The arrangement of ICMR in regard to the selection of students will be final.
  • Appeals for reconsideration will not be considered and reasons for refusal of applications for the award of the studentship will not be provided.

STS Scholarship Important Instructions

  • The guide must take overall responsibility for the conduct of the research project, preparation, and submission of the complete report & the required enclosures within the stipulated time period.
  • The student should get permission from the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) if the program involves research on human participants and from Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) if the work involves the use of animals.
  • The IEC/ IAEC permission should be received any time between January–April before starting actual research work.
  • On approval of the STS Report, the stipend will be paid through RTGS and will be transferred to the student’s own single holder nationalized bank account number. Joint Accounts (parents/guides) will not be accepted.
  • The certificate may be presented either along with the project or with the report. Informed consent is to be collected for research on human participants. For more details please refer to ICMR National Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical and Health Research on Human Participants, 2017 and National Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research Involving Children respectively.

The STS registration begins every year around 10th December and continues for one month.

How do I choose the topic for my research?

Answer:
Students are free to choose any topic from the list of topics given in the application process depending on their interest related to medical research. The topic should be relevant and should lead to the creation of new knowledge or help in gaining new knowledge or skills by the student. Research should not be carried out on well established/known facts.

How do I apply online for the STS scholarship?

Answer:

When will I receive my stipend?

AUAT E-Counselling 2019

The counselling procedure will be entirely online and easy to follow for the students. Note that three is no need to report at the University during any point of the counselling procedure. Follow the below steps:

AUAT Counselling 2019 General Instructions
